I have been absent
I am sorry for not posting any updates for a week, but it’s been so busy at work and now my Internet isnt working and I can only use my phone to “work” online. But I should be back to normal by next week, with new tattoos and other exciting new projects.
I hope everyone is having an amazing weekend.
Friday
I don’t know if anyone ever noticed the trend that is owl tattoos. And I also don’t know if anyone ever noticed how many of them I have done in the past few years. I definitely lost count, but I think I am somewhere over 200. There was a nurse-owl, film maker-owl, Mr. T-owl, satanic owl, robo-owl, buddha-owl and the list goes on and on. I figured, moving to Germany would help me rid myself of the owl-lady stigma. But I was mistaken. And today I got to do a sweet ass Gangsta Owl. I am really stoked on the outcome, as was my new friend Piotr (or so I think, at least).
Wednesday
I know, it’s not possible to reinvent the wheel, as much as it’s not possible to come up with new religious imagery, but today I got to try my take on the Virgin Mary. It’s not done yet, but Christian and I had a lot of fun and I really cannot wait to work on this tattoo again.
Tuesday
Today was spent working on my new friend Fernanda. She is an independent light technician and shares my love for gummibears and music. We discussed German hip hop culture, while I tattooed both her feet. I don’t know how she did it, but she sat through 4 hours of pain and barely flinched. Thanks again Fernanda, and please bring back those gummi fruit things.
Saturday
I didn’t have to work today, instead this beautiful day was spent exploring Friedrichshain, the district of Berlin I have moved to. It’s an awesome meltingpot of small stores, cafes, bars and restaurants, one of which I am absolutely in love with. The place is called “Wahrhaft Nahrhaft” and I suggest everybody visiting Berlin should make it a point to at least have one meal there. It’s vegan friendly and has the most awesome selection of home-made cakes and brownies and cupcakes and other baked goods. Also their breakfast and lunch items are to die for and I think they make some of the best coffee and tea in town. So, if you’re hungry, live in or visit Berlin and are curious to try out a new delicious place to eat, go visit “Wahrhaft Nahrhaft” and say Hi to Betty.
Friday
I have taken it easy today, I am so tired and this fasting diet I am on is really kicking my butt. So there is no tattoo updates, I am afraid. However, I would like to share my friend Sarah’s blog with you guys. She is one of my closest friends and an amazing photographer. Her eye for detail, color and inventive composition makes me jealous.
Here is a small selection of her beautiful work:
Thursday
Today was awesome. Finished a big ribpiece and then did a fun leg tattoo on my friend Arne. And after a long day at work, I am now sitting on my comfortable couch, enjoying a wonderful episode of German wife swap. And then people say, television isn’t educational.
Wednesday
What a busy day it was. Finished Dennis’ eagle chest tattoo and then did my friend Yane’s second globe to finish off the Herman Melville theme on her calves. Thank you both for coming in and trusting me with your tattoo projects. Other than that nothing exciting has happened. The toilet at work is clogged… again. It makes weird noises, almost sounds as if there’s an alien loose in the toilet bowl.
